Built on the site of the old Capitol of the Republic of Texas, the octogenarian gem is located in the heart of new downtown Houston, Texas. Over the years, the Rice Hotel played host to many prestigious political, business and social events. AFS partnered in leading the way to converting this abandoned hotel to its present radiant charm. Beginning in 1995, the $32 million renovation project converted the once dilapidated space into 350 luxury loft apartments and over 25,000 square feet of retail space.
The hotel's original character shines through in magnificent detail in the 7,000-square-foot Crystal Ballroom. Without blueprints or plans, AFS' skilled professionals recreated the details of the ballroom from old renderings and photographs.
